Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has responded to questions regarding his international future following England’s exit from the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Three Lions exited the World Cup on Saturday evening after an agonising 2-1 quarter-final defeat to reigning champions France.

Harry Kane missed a late penalty at the Al Bayt Stadium after Olivier Giroud headed France back into the lead in the 78th minute, with Kane having initially cancelled out Aurélien Tchouaméni’s early strike.

Kyle Walker was one of three Manchester City players to start for England at the weekend, with John Stones and Phil Foden also named in Gareth Southgate’s starting side.

The 32 year-old returned to action in Qatar after a prolonged period on the sidelines after undergoing surgery in October.

Walker made three appearances for England in the Middle East, taking the full-backs number of international caps to 73.

The right-back has represented England for over a decade, having initially made his debut in November 2011.

England’s next major tournament is the European Championships in 2024, with the next World Cup taking place in 2026 across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Following England’s exit from the tournament on Saturday, Walker was asked about his international future beyond the World Cup in Qatar.

“I don’t know, I’ll have to evaluate that,” Walker told ITV.

“It’s not about me, it’s about this team and what strides they’ve done over the last four years in getting to a semi-final, a final and then obviously the quarters and being knocked out by the World Champions.”

Walker joined the Sky Blues from Tottenham in 2017 and has won 11 trophies including four Premier League titles since moving to the Etihad Stadium.

The Englishman was one of five City stars selected to represent England in Qatar, alongside John Stones, Kalvin Phillips, Phil Foden and Jack Grealish.

Manchester City return to action in the Carabao Cup on Thursday 22nd December against Liverpool, with Pep Guardiola’s side facing Leeds United in the Premier League on Wednesday 28th December.
