Championship side targeting Manchester City’s Brian Barry-Murphy to fill vacant managerial position
QPR are reportedly interested in making a move for Manchester City EDS manager Brian Barry-Murphy.
The Championship club are looking for a new manager following Michael Beale’s recent move to Rangers in Scotland.
QPR are currently chasing promotion to the top-flight, with the West London club situated in sixth in the Championship table after a positive start to the campaign.
Brian Barry-Murphy is claimed to have emerged as a candidate to fill the vacant managerial position at Loftus Road according to Adrian Kajumba of the Daily Mail.
The 44 year-old, who is currently the manager of Manchester City’s Elite Development Squad (EDS), is claimed to be considered as one of Beale’s possible successors.
Barry-Murphy led the Blues’ EDS side to a second successive PL2 last campaign, with City just the second side to ever win the competition back-to-back.
Like Pep Guardiola’s side, City’s EDS are bidding to win a hat-trick of titles, with Barry-Murphy’s squad currently just two points off of top spot.
Barry-Murphy has also seen his side reach the knockout stages of the UEFA Youth League for the first time since the 2017/18 season.
Should the 44 year-old move to QPR he would be competing for promotion with Burnley, who are managed by former Manchester City captain and club legend Vincent Kompany.
The Clarets currently top the Championship table and face Manchester United in the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford upon the return of domestic action following the conclusion of the World Cup in Qatar.
