Premier League legend Alan Shearer has reacted to Erling Haaland’s ‘spoilt brat’ reaction to being substituted by Pep Guardiola for Manchester City against Wolves.

The Norwegian striker was hit with criticism from Sky Sports television pundit and former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane over the weekend, after showing his frustration towards the decision to be withdrawn by Pep Guardiola.

Manchester City were leading the contest 4-1 at the moment of the game, with Haaland responsible for all four goals, and being replaced by Julian Alvarez – who would score a fifth deeper into the match.

Keane exclaimed, “We saw (Erling) Haaland being brought off, not too happy, behaving like a spoilt brat. But because they (Manchester City) win the game and he scores goals, it’s almost forgotten about.”

Now, coming out in defence of the 23-year-old forward, one man who certainly knows a thing or two about goalscoring has stated that the Manchester City striker was absolutely entitled to be angered by the decision to be substituted against Gary O’Neil’s side.

Speaking on the latest edition of ‘The Rest is Football’ podcast, Alan Shearer has come out in support of Erling Haaland following his frustrated reaction to being substituted by Pep Guardiola against Wolves on Saturday evening.

“I loved it. Why shouldn’t he be fuming? I would be fuming, absolutely raging,” Shearer admitted. “You’re on four goals and you’ve got ten or 15 minutes left? I would be exactly the same as him.”

Shearer continued, “He is on a high, flying, has had criticism, has four and is back in the groove. I loved it. I have no issue or problem with that at all. I get how he feels.”

Erling Haaland is once again having a remarkable season in front of goal, despite his problems with fitness and injury, including an absence from the Manchester City squad for two months during the winter period.

Across his 41 appearances in all competitions under Pep Guardiola this season, Erling Haaland has managed to record a staggering 36 goals, and provide a further six assists in the process, including 30 goal contributions in just 28 Premier League outings.
