Deadline Day Live: Manchester City transfer news and updates

Manchester City come into the final day of the 2023 summer transfer window with plenty still to arrange, both in the way of arrivals and outgoings at the Etihad Stadium.
The final 24 hours of the summer transfer window are likely to be dominated by proceedings concerning some of Manchester City’s outgoing talents, with uncertainty looming over the likes of James McAtee and Taylor Harwood-Bellis coming into Deadline Day.
Elsewhere and the exits of Cole Palmer and Joao Cancelo on permanent and temporary exits respectively are still yet to be formally announced, however that is expected to change across the course of Friday.
Manchester City supporters can also expect the club to formally unveil their newest addition to Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad, after Matheus Nunes underwent medical testing and media formalities throughout the course of Thursday.

15:30 – James McAtee signs for Sheffield United
Manchester City have seen James McAtee re-join Sheffield United on a season-long loan for their campaign back in the Premier League, it has now been confirmed.
It is also made clear that the Bramall Lane club do not hold an option to buy in the agreement, but are covering the entirety of the player’s wage package.

Manchester City and Feyenoord have confirmed an agreement that will see Dutch goalkeeper Mikki van Sas leave the club’s academy system for the Eredivisie club on a free transfer.

Manchester City are ‘done’ for this summer transfer window when it comes to arrivals to the first-team squad. However, it is still possible that loans out are likely, with James McAtee an option for Sheffield United and Joao Cancelo for Barcelona. (Mike Minay)
10:30 – Matheus Nunes joins Manchester City
Following official confirmation from both parties, Matheus Nunes has officially joined Manchester City from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a €62 million agreement with no add-ons in the deal.
Nunes becomes City’s fourth signing of the summer, following on from Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol, and Jeremy Doku, taking on the club’s number 27 shirt.

McAtee will head back to Bramall Lane on a standard season-long loan agreement with no option to buy, as both the player and Manchester City themselves see the midfielder as part of the future plans of the Etihad club. (Simon Bajkowski)
10:00 – Tommy Doyle joins Wolves
Manchester City have confirmed that Tommy Doyle has joined Wolves on a season-long loan.
The Molineux club hold an option to buy set at £5 million, and subsequently City will retain a 50% sell-on.
09:30 – Chelsea announce Cole Palmer signing
Cole Palmer has joined Chelsea on an initial seven-year contract, with the transfer worth an initial £40 million plus a further £2.5 million in add-ons.

James McAtee to Sheffield United on-loan, Here We Go, as per Fabrizio Romano.
09:11 – Cole Palmer confirms Manchester City exit
In a statement on Instagram, Cole Palmer confirmed his departure from the Etihad Stadium, with an official announcement regarding his move to Chelsea expected to follow in due course.
09:00 – Taylor Harwood-Bellis joins Southampton
Southampton have secured the loan signing of Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Manchester City, and hold a £20 million obligation to buy at the end of the 2023/24 season should they secure promotion back to the Premier League.
Alongside his loan to the south coast, Harwood-Bellis has also signed a new 12-month contract extension at the Etihad Stadium, keeping him tied to the club until at least 2025.
