Early team news: Erling Haaland STARTS for Man City vs Arsenal (Premier League)
Erling Haaland was part of the travelling Manchester City squad to face Arsenal in the Premier League on Wednesday night, it has been confirmed, and will start for the team.
Manchester City have the opportunity to go top of the Premier League table ahead of the weekend on Wednesday night, with a win against their nearest title challengers taking full advantage of Arsenal’s recent dropped points.
A fortnight ago, it was Everton who did the ultimate damage, as a rejuvenated Sean Dyche side secured a 1-0 win over Arsenal at Goodison Park, before Brentford then stole a point from the Emirates Stadium in a game marred by VAR controversy.
City failed their first attempt at clawing back ground on their title competitors, as a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in North London followed Arsenal’s downfall at Everton. However, a 3-1 win against Aston Villa on Sunday gained two points on the Gunners ahead of tonight’s meeting.
While City could go top of the Premier League with a win at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal will have a game in hand on Pep Guardiola’s side, although the two teams are still yet to face off once more at the Etihad Stadium later on in the season.
In the run-up to Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola’s official release of their starting line-ups, various sources have began to reveal elements of the Manchester City XI as they look to continue their hunt down of the Gunners.
Earlier in the day, photographers at Manchester Piccadilly station confirmed that Erling Haaland was part of the travelling party that made the rail journey to London Euston on Wednesday morning.
Haaland had been suffering from a thigh problem following the win over Aston Villa, but took part in both the first-team’s recovery session on Monday, and full training on Tuesday.
As per the information of C345Sam on Twitter, Haaland also starts for Manchester City against Arsenal.
Elsewhere, Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker also both start for Pep Guardiola, as per the same source.
Additional information in defence concerns Nathan Ake, who starts for the club against Arsenal, as per the Manchester Evening News.
Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola are expected to name their official Arsenal and Manchester City starting line-ups at 18:30 BST.
