Andy Madley to referee Emirates FA Cup Final between Manchester City and Manchester United
Andy Madley has been named as the referee for the Emirates FA Cup Final between Manchester City and Manchester United at Wembley Stadium.
The two Manchester rivals will clash in the Emirates FA Cup Final for the second consecutive season later this month, with Pep Guardiola’s side having been victorious in north London last season.
Manchester City lifted the FA Cup as part of an historic treble, as a landmark brace from Ilkay Gundogan secured a momentous 2-1 victory.
The Sky Blues have won both meetings between the two clubs already this season, and overcame Chelsea in the semi-finals last month to reach a third FA Cup Final of Pep Guardiola’s tenure.
Bernardo Silva scored a late goal in a 1-0 win, with Manchester City having also beaten Premier League outfits Tottenham, Luton Town and Newcastle United during their FA Cup campaign.
Manchester United meanwhile survived an almighty scare in the semi-finals, needing a penalty shoot-out to survive Coventry City’s valiant comeback.
Erik ten Hag’s side have been in dismal recent form, but did beat Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the quarter-finals.
Ahead of the Emirates FA Cup Final later this month, the Football Association have announced the Match Officials for the prestigious fixture.
Match Referee
Andy Madley has been named as the referee for Manchester City’s FA Cup clash against Manchester United on Saturday 25th May.
The 40-year-old has officiated 32 matches across all competitions so far this season, showing 114 yellow cards and four red cards.
The referee last took charge of Manchester City in March, officiating the 3-1 win over Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium.
Assistant Referees
Madley will be accompanied at Wembley Stadium by Assistant Referees Harry Lennard and Nick Hopton.
Video Assistant Referees
Overviewing proceedings will be Video Assistant Referee Michael Oliver, Support Video Assistant Referee Peter Bankes and Assistant Video Assistant Referee Stuart Burt.
Fourth Official
Simon Hooper has been named as the Fourth Official
The referee will be overseeing conduct within the two dugouts, and the behaviour of managers Pep Guardiola and Erik ten Hag.
