Manchester City’s Josh Wilson-Esbrand is set to leave the club on-loan until the end of the season, as exclusively reported by Fabrizio Romano.

The former West Ham academy prospect will make a temporary move to the Championship for the remainder of the season, as the young left-back goes in search of much-needed game time after a frustrating first-half of the campaign that has been hampered by injury.

Wilson-Esbrand marked his return from injury with an outing against Arsenal in a top of the table clash in the Premier League 2 division – a game that saw Manchester City’s Elite Development Squad come out as 6-0 victors.

Following his return to match action, the next stop for Josh Wilson-Esbrand is to the second tier of English football, with a deal set to be agreed with Manchester City for the temporary services of the defender.

This is according to the information of transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who reports that Josh Wilson-Esbrand is set to leave Manchester City on loan to join Coventry City until the end of the current season.

It is stated that an agreement between the two sides is now set to be completed, as a loan deal for the 20 year-old full-back works for both parties.

Romano does clarify that Wilson-Esbrand will return to Manchester City at the end of the agreed loan to the Championship club, with the defender seen as a ‘bright talent for the future’ by those within the Premier League champions’ academy.

Josh Wilson-Esbrand has so far made a total of three appearances for Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad, with three of those coming in recent Champions League games for Manchester City.

Taking on roughly 25 minutes in each, the defender featured from the substitutes bench in the Champions League group stage against FC Copenhagen and Sevilla – with both games coming at the Etihad Stadium.

Wilson-Esbrand’s full Manchester City debut came in the third round of last season’s Carabao Cup, when he started as a left-back for Pep Guardiola in a dominant 6-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers at home.
