Manchester City have presented legendary former midfielder and Spanish icon David Silva with a ‘lifetime seasoncard’ following his recent return to the Etihad Stadium.

The Spaniard was making his first visit back, since leaving the club in 2020, to his legendary home on Saturday evening as Manchester City faced Wolves in their penultimate Premier League home game of the ongoing season.

Erling Haaland put on a performance to leave David Silva stunned with the Norwegian scoring a first-half hat-trick as part of an overall four-goal haul to secure all three points with plenty of time to spare in the contest.

The Etihad Stadium welcomed back David Silva in true legend status style before the game, with the 38-year-old receiving a standing ovation as he greeted those in attendance alongside his family on the stadium’s pitch.

But the honours did not stop there for the legendary playmaker, with Manchester City also handing David Silva a unique gift as a further sign of their recognition for his exemplary commitments to the football club over a 10-year stay.

As revealed during the latest edition of Manchester City’s ‘Inside City’, club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak presented Silva with a ‘lifetime seasoncard’ and some heartfelt words for the Spanish icon.

“We’ll never forget what you’ve done for this Club,” Al Mubarak told Silva behind-the-scenes at the City Football Academy. “We’re so happy. That’s why I wanted to give you this, a small recognition from the Club for everything you’ve done. Thank you very much.”

Across a 10-year spell with Manchester City, working under three different managers, David Silva managed to bank 436 appearances across all competitions, scoring 77 goals and providing a further 132 assists in the process.

In that time, David Silva also played an integral role in winning four Premier League titles including the club’s first under the new ownership and management of Roberto Mancini in the 2011/2012 campaign.

Two FA Cups, five League Cups, and two Community Shields would also be won by David Silva, who dominated midfields in English football and received plenty of recognition through individual honours too, including three PFA Premier League Team of the Year prizes.
