Phil Foden is expected to be out of Manchester City’ starting XI vs Leeds United in the Premier League on Wednesday night, according to early reports.

The England international midfielder returned to the club following his duties with Gareth Southgate’s side last week, alongside other Manchester City players that had travelled to Qatar with the Three Lions.

Foden did mark his return to Pep Guardiola’s squad with an appearance from the substitutes bench against Liverpool last week, as City booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup via a 3-2 victory at the Etihad Stadium.

However, despite there being an expectation in some quarters that Foden could come back into the starting XI against Leeds United tonight, reports circulating ahead of the official team news confirmation suggests that will not be the case.

According to one source, Phil Foden is expected to miss out on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City starting XI that will return to Premier League action with a clash against Jesse Marsch’s Leeds United.

An additional report further reveals that Manchester City will also be without Joao Cancelo and Kyle Walker in their starting line-up, meaning the likes of Rico Lewis, John Stones, Nathan Ake, or Sergio Gomez could be asked to deputise in the wide defensive roles.

Manchester City’s front-three has also seemingly been confirmed, as a third source revealed that Jack Grealish, Erling Haaland, and Riyad Mahrez have all been selected by Pep Guardiola to start against Leeds.

Both Pep Guardiola and Jesse Marsch are set to name their official Manchester City and Leeds United starting line-ups at 19:00 UK time, with kick-off at Elland Road set for 20:00.
