Manchester City’s poster academy graduate Phil Foden has revealed his ambitious plan to join the likes of Lionel Messi and Dani Alves in an exclusive club in football.

The Stockport-born playmaker is fresh off the back of the club’s most successful calendar year to date, having secured five trophies throughout the duration of 2023 including a Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League treble.

This season however has seen Foden go from strength to strength, operating largely in an attacking midfield role that many within the football club believe is his natural position following his progression throughout the club’s academy system.

However, Kevin De Bruyne’s first start for the club since injury last summer on Wednesday evening prompted Pep Guardiola to shift Foden more into a wide role and attacking from the right of a front three.

Regardless of the role being fulfilled by Foden, his future success when it comes to silverware is more or less guaranteed, and after a hugely transformation period with the club to date, the 23-year-old is not wanting any sign of slowing down as he heads deeper into his career.

Speaking to ManCity.com this week, Phil Foden has revealed that while he often cannot believe just how much silverware he has already won with Manchester City, he has ambitions of becoming one of the greatest of all time in the trophy department.

“Sometimes I feel it’s all going really quickly because I’ve already achieved so much in my career, and it’s crazy to think how many trophies I’ve already won with City,” Foden admitted to the Club’s official website.

He continued, “To have won so many at the age of 23 is unreal, but I want to keep going on and keep winning trophies with City – why not?

“I’d like to end my career by being one of the most decorated players ever because I’ve got so many more years ahead of me.”

Becoming one of football’s most decorated players is no easy task however, and should Foden rival the most successful in the game by the end of his career, then that means taking on Lionel Messi and Dani Alves – both of whom have recorded a staggering total of over 44 honours during their top-level careers.

To date, Phil Foden has so far achieved 16 honours under the leadership of Pep Guardiola having first broken into Manchester City’s senior squad on a regular basis in the 2017/18 season.
