Manchester City will be without Erling Haaland for Sunday afternoon’s Premier League clash against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road, it has been reported ahead of kick-off.

Pep Guardiola and his players are desperately looking to bring an end to a run of four English top-flight games without a win, having sustained four successive draws followed by a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Wednesday night.

The midweek defeat to Unai Emery’s high-flying Villa side was a culmination of disappointing performances, with the reigning Premier League champions having been on the receiving end of 22 shots, and registering zero of their own after the 11th minute.

Next up for the Treble winners is a clash against Rob Edwards’ Luton Town side, who will be full of confidence having put in a stunning performance against title challengers Arsenal earlier this week, only to be undone by a last minute Declan Rice strike.

As Manchester City gear up for a significant moment in their pursuit of an unprecedented fourth Premier League title in a row, sources in the lead up to kick-off having been releasing pieces of Pep Guardiola’s starting line-up.

As first reported by Jake Gorfin on Saturday night, Manchester City travelled to Luton without star striker Erling Haaland – who misses out through an ongoing fitness problem.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein would go on to confirm Haaland’s absence from the Manchester City travelling party, with the Norwegian international missing his first match of the season for the Etihad club.

In additional details surrounding the 23-year-old’s issues, X user FPLMaineRoad reports that Erling Haaland has been carrying a ‘foot injury’ for ‘a few weeks’ now, in an issue that is being termed as a ‘stress fracture’.

Rob Edwards and Pep Guardiola are expected to confirm their respective Luton Town and Manchester City starting line-ups for Sunday afternoon’s meeting at Kenilworth Road from around 13:00 (UK).
