Manchester City forward Cole Palmer will leave the Etihad Stadium within weeks, as a number of Premier League and Bundesliga clubs circle.
Pep Guardiola is set to sanction a transfer for the 21 year-old, who has just helped England to the U21’s European Championships for the first time in nearly four decades, with victory over Spain in Georgia on Saturday.
Cole Palmer’s deflected free-kick was the only goal of a dramatic final at the Batumi Arena, with England winning the tournament for the first time since 1984.
Palmer’s resurgent performances for Lee Carsley’s young side came despite a frustrating season with the Manchester City first-team, where the forward struggled for form and minutes with the Sky Blues.
The 21 year-old made just seven starts for the Premier League and European champions during the campaign, scoring just the one goal, against Burnley in the FA Cup quarter-finals at the Etihad Stadium.
Palmer also featured against Chelsea, Brighton and Brentford towards the end of the Premier League season, as well as playing in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium.
The Manchester City winger made a shock first Premier League start against Everton in 2021, but has struggled for consistent minutes, amid a lack of form and rife competition for places.
As a result, the England U21 international looks set to leave Manchester City on loan next season, with interest from a number of Premier League and German clubs.
Football Insider claim that the forward will leave the treble-winners ‘within weeks’ with a loan move to seen as ‘suiting all parties’ ahead of the campaign.
Brighton, who will play in the Europa League next season, have been strongly linked with Palmer, while both Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have previously held an interest in the City player.
Manchester City are only expected to grant a loan move for the player however, with Footy Insider further reporting that the Blues will ‘rebuff’ any attempts to permanently sign the player.
Palmer has won five trophies and made 38 appearances under Pep Guardiola since his debut against Burnley in 2020.
