Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte has been linked with a summer move away from the Club, with Juventus considering a move for the Spanish international.

Laporte joined Pep Guardiola’s side back in the January transfer window of 2018, making the switch from La Liga’s Athletic Bilbao, and has been an important part in multiple Premier League title winning sides since.

This season however, the Spaniard has not been afforded the regular game time that he has seen in past campaigns, with City boss Guardiola giving more opportunities to the likes of new-signing Manuel Akanji, and Ruben Dias.

While Aymeric Laporte’s current Manchester City contract does not expire until the summer of 2025 a new report has detailed a potential interest from Italy ahead of the upcoming transfer window, such is the uncertainty surrounding his current situation at the Etihad Stadium.

That is according to a report from Matteo Moretto, who claims that Aymeric Laporte is wanted by Serie A giants Juventus, with the Turin-based club looking to sign a left-footed defender in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Unfortunately for Juventus, and perhaps Aymeric Laporte himself, it is further claimed that any move is ‘complicated’ due to the finances required to make any switch to Italy possible, but Juventus are ‘watching the situation with interest’.

The ‘Old Lady’ have recently been hit with a 15-point deduction due to “financial irregularities” and “false accounting” regarding previous transfers.

This has left the historic Italian side with a serious uphill battle to finish inside the top four, currently finding themselves in seventh place in Serie A.

The financial repercussions of failing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season could mean Massimiliano Allegri’s side may not have the monetary power to afford a move for Manchester City’s in-demand defender.

It is believed that the reigning Premier League champions have already planned for the possible exit of the Spaniard, with replacements being talked about within the club.

One name that is highly regarded is RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol, with the Croatia international defender comfortably having the ability to play at the heart of the defence, whilst also being efficient cover for the left-back role.

Aymeric Laporte’s most recent appearance for City came in the recent 6-0 thrashing of Vincent Kompany’s Burnley in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, where he played the full match.

Pep Guardiola’s side will face Championship side Sheffield United in the semi-finals of the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium, on the 22ndApril.

Laporte has made a total of 171 appearances and won eight trophies, including four illustrious Premier League titles since a £57 million transfer from Athletic Bilbao. There are still opportunities to add extra trophies to his collection with Manchester City battling for the English top-flight crown, Champions League and FA Cup this season.

Manchester City’s next fixture comes in the form of a Premier League showdown with an inconsistent Liverpool side on April 1st, as they look to hunt Arsenal down who extended their lead at the top of the league to eight-points this weekend.
