Manchester City make home kit retention decision following recent 2024/25 launch
Manchester City will retain their current kit for Sunday’s showdown clash with West Ham at the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola’s side could clinch a record-breaking fourth successive Premier League title with a victory over West Ham this weekend, with Manchester City bidding to win a sixth English top-flight title in seven years.
The Cityzens took control of the Premier League title race with a crucial 0-2 win over Tottenham on Tuesday evening, as Erling Haaland’s second-half brace left the Sky Blues needing three more points to secure the Premier League trophy.
Manchester City’s finale clash at the Etihad Stadium against West Ham this weekend is the Blues’ penultimate match of the campaign, with an Emirates FA Cup Final versus Manchester United at Wembley Stadium to follow Sunday’s showdown.
Despite having two matches remaining this season, Manchester City launched their new home kit for the 2024/25 campaign on Thursday, unveiling a new strip inspired by Manchester’s regional dialling code 0161.
The shirt uses the clubβs traditional sky blue colour combined with navy and white detailing, with pattern threaded sleeves combing the numbers 0161.
Speaking about the new kit, Pumaβs Senior Head of Product Line Management Teamsport Apparel Marco Mueller, said: “This kit personifies exactly what it means to be a Mancunian and a Manchester City fan.
“This is our sixth home jersey with Manchester City and weβre proud to showcase what it means to be Mancunian through the design of the shirt.”
Jack Gaughan reports that despite Manchester City’s launch of the kit this week, that the first-team squad will retain this season’s current home strip for Sunday’s fixture against West Ham at the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola’s side have already won both the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World wearing the current home shirt this season, and will be hopeful of also winning the Premier League and FA Cup with the retained kit.
