Manchester City will look to bounce back from consecutive draws and keep the pressure on Premier League leaders Arsenal as they face Bournemouth this Saturday.

After a disappointing draw to Nottingham Forest last time out in the top-flight, Pep Guardiola’s side were subjected to the same fate in midweek, with a 1-1 draw against RB Leipzig in the Champions League knock-out stages.

City could also find themselves five points behind league leaders Arsenal, should the Gunners win their earlier kick-off against Leicester, so a decisive win is needed for the reigning Champions to stay in with a chance of retaining their Premier League title.

Bournemouth ended their nine-game win-less run with a result against Wolves last weekend, with the Cherries accumulating five points from their last four Premier League matches to climb out of the relegation zone just one point off current 18th West Ham.

Ahead of the game at the Vitality Stadium, here are the all-important stats to look out for!

Bournemouth

  • Since the return of the Premier League after the World Cup, Bournemouth have scored the fewest goals in the Premier League, having only managed to net three goals.
  • A goal from Marcus Tavernier against Wolves saw Bournemouth secure a much-needed 1-0 victory last week. They last won consecutive games within the same top-flight season in February 2020.
  • Bournemouth have not won at home in their past four matches.
  • Bournemouth have scored a total of 21 goals this season, which is less than Erling Haaland has scored alone, totalling 26.
  • No Bournemouth player has had more Premier League contributions this season than Marcus Tavernier, who has scored three goals and has four assists.

Manchester City

  • Manchester City have won 199 Premier League away games, with the first 100 coming in 337 games between 1992 and 2014, with the last 99 coming in just 156 games.
  • All seven of Jack Grealish’s Premier League goal contributions for Manchester City this season, (three goals, four assists) have come in away games.
  • Manchester City have failed to score in just two of their 12 away matches in the Premier League this season.
  • Ederson has failed to keep a clean sheet in the past five matches for Manchester City.
  • Manchester City have had 515 open play sequences of 10 or more passes in the Premier League this season, over 150 more than any other side and 412 more than Bournemouth who rank 20th.

Previous Meetings

  • Bournemouth have not beaten Manchester City in their 17 last league games against them, losing 15 and drawing two – the most a team has faced another without ever winning in the history of English football.
  • Manchester City boast a 100% win record in the Premier League against the Cherries, claiming maximum points in all 11 previous meetings – the best win rate in the competition’s history.
  • Manchester City have so far scored an average of 2.4 goals against Bournemouth, with the Cherries scoring an average of 0.6.
  • The most common result between Manchester City and AFC Bournemouth is 4-0, with four matches between the two ending up with this result.
