Kalvin Phillips is yet to understand what Manchester City’s plans are for him as the summer transfer window approaches.

The England international has largely struggled for game time since making the switch to the Etihad Stadium last summer, with a shoulder problem and subsequent surgery hampering the first-half of the ongoing campaign.

Thankfully for Phillips, his recovery from surgery last October allowed him to partake in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and look forward to a second-half of a season under Pep Guardiola.

Despite the hectic fixture schedule that looms for Manchester City across the coming months, the impeccable form of Rodri has meant that there are some concerns as to whether Kalvin Phillips could take on any game time other than the FA Cup fifth round tie against Bristol City.

With that being said, according to the information of Fabrizio Romano this week, Manchester City have not yet made a decision on Kalvin Phillips’ future.

The Premier League champions are expected to have undergo a major transformation of their first-team squad this summer, however it is highlighted that deciding on the future of Phillips is a ‘crucial step’ to understand what is going to happen in the coming window. Unsurprisingly, Pep Guardiola’s opinion is stated as being ‘really important’ to decide on Phillips’ future.

As for interested parties, West Ham are known to have held an interest in the player since his time with Leeds United and are understood to have made an approach for the player last January.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, the London club are not working on any deal for Kalvin Phillips at this stage. With that being said, it is clarified that onlookers may have to wait and see what happens in regards to the future of Declan Rice.

Manchester City are expected to be in the market for a new central midfielder this summer, with the likes of Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and Leicester City’s James Maddison among the names to have been linked with interest from the Etihad Stadium.

In regards to the latter, it is understood that City have distanced themselves from any serious interest, but could face a battle to sign Bellingham with the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid expected to put up a fight for the England star.

Elsewhere, City are likely to pursue a new wide forward with Rafael Leao known to be monitored by those within the club, while Ben Chilwell is among the names attracting interest for the left-back position.
