Possible Manchester City punishments revealed including potential Premier League EXPULSION
Manchester City could face expulsion from the Premier League after being charged with over 100 breaches of financial rules.
The Premier League have refereed a series of alleged breaches of rules by Manchester City to an independent commission following a four-year investigation into the club.
Charges by the Premier League relate to financial information, profitability and sustainability, player and manager remuneration, failure to cooperate and UEFA regulations.
The charges relate to incidents spanning from the 2009/10 campaign to the 2017/18 season, with Manchester City having won six Premier League titles since the Abu Dhabi takeover.
If found guilty of alleged breaches the current Premier League champions face the possibility of serious punishment, including possible expulsion from the Premier League.
Martyn Ziegler states that possible sanctions include points deductions or even being kicked out of the division.
The Sky Blues could also be hit with unlimited fines or ‘reprimand’ according to Mike Minay.
Journalist Nick Harris reports that if found guilty, punishments could even include transfer bans, spending limits and potentially even being stripped titles.
Manchester City won the Premier League title during the 2011/12, 2013/14, 2017/18, 2018/19, 2020/21 and 2021/22 season.
