Manchester City have reportedly placed Lazio goalkeeper and Greek international Christos Mandas on their radar ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Continued reports surrounding Manchester City and the goalkeeper market come as Stefan Ortega Moreno continues to maintain uncertainty over his longer-term Etihad Stadium future as the summer market approaches.

The German shot-stopper – who is highly-regarded by all those at Manchester City – is likely to entertain offers of more consistent first-team opportunities from top-level European clubs this summer, with Ederson standing as City’s undisputed mainstay between the sticks.

Ortega has been granted more opportunities than he perhaps would have expected this season, appearing against Liverpool at Anfield and Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. However, amid an uncertain contractual situation, contingency plans are being drawn up.

Those plans have seemingly led Manchester City to the Italian game and the profile of a rising talent at Lazio that could be turned to should Etihad Stadium officials receive an offer for Ortega that the former Aminia Bielefeld man would like to explore.

According to the information of Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, Lazio goalkeeper Christos Mandas has ended up on Manchester City’s transfer radar, with the Premier League giants ‘on the hunt’ for promising talents.

As part of that search, it is claimed that the Greek international is among the players Manchester City are following with a view towards potentially securing their signature during the upcoming summer transfer market.

However, for the time being, the report further claims that the 22-year-old is expected to continue at Lazio ‘unless unmissable offers arrive’ from Manchester City or another club in the next transfer window.

Mandas is largely regarded as being Lazio’s back-up choice goalkeeper, but due to an injury sustained by Ivan Provedel, the Greek stopper was thrust into action during the second-half of the campaign, keeping four clean sheets in eight Serie A outings.

Mandas’ top-level professional career remains very brief, having registered the large bulk of his appearances in Greece during his time with Atromitos and OFI Crete, before making the switch to Italy for an undisclosed fee last summer.
