Manchester City return to Premier League duties this weekend with Luton Town the visitors to the Etihad Stadium for the third and final meeting between the two clubs.

City came from behind to defeat the newly-promoted Premier League outfit at Kenilworth Road in their first top-flight meeting earlier this season, with second-half goals from Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish cancelling out the hosts’ first-half effort.

Luton and Manchester City were then pitted against one another in the FA Cup fifth round at Kenilworth Road once again, with the scoreline significantly more dramatic than the first meeting.

The Cup clash was all about two men, with Erling Haaland scoring five of Manchester City’s six goals in a 2-6 victory over Luton, while Kevin De Bruyne provided a remarkable four assists for the club’s Norwegian forward.

Manchester City come into the weekend’s fixture off the back of an enthralling 3-3 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu, as Real Madrid and the reigning Champions of Europe played out one of the games of the season to set up a quarter-final second-leg perfectly next week.

Ahead of the release of confirmed line-ups from the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon, elements of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City selection has been issued by sources, with the first details revealed by The FPL Newsletter.

As per the information of The FPL Newsletter on X, Pep Guardiola has opted to start Erling Haaland against Luton, despite their outing against Real Madrid and the upcoming second-leg on Wednesday night.

Additional reporting from FPLMaineRoad on X has also revealed that Josko Gvardiol starts for Manchester City, with the Croatian starring in the outing against Madrid and scoring his first goal for the club in exemplary fashion from distance.

The same source has also revealed that Ederson comes back into the Manchester City starting line-up against Luton following a thigh injury, while Kevin De Bruyne returns from illness to start for Guardiola.

FplToni – also reporting on X – has gone on to reveal that Rico Lewis starts for the Premier League champions, with the England international and the aforementioned Croatian defender likely to take up the two full-back roles.

Pep Guardiola and Rob Edwards are expected to release their confirmed Manchester City and Luton Town starting line-ups from 14:00 (UK) at the Etihad Stadium.
