Jack Grealish has opened up about the fact that he is on the receiving end of boos from rival Premier League fans.

Grealish joined Manchester City for £100 million in the summer of 2021, and while it took some time for the winger to settle, he played a key role in the Blues’ record-breaking run to winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League in the 2022/23 campaign.

In the years since signing for the Etihad outfit, Grealish has risen to superstar status English football, culminating with the 28-year-old signing a major deal with famous clothing brand Gucci.

The former Aston Villa man was quick to show his love for the Manchester City fans who have backed him since signing in a recent interview for the club’s website.

“I think I get on well with fans because I was one myself once upon a time and feel I always would have had that relationship with them,” he said.

“The fans at City are so good and brilliant and when I see them around, I always stop and have a chat – I can’t praise them enough or fault them in anyway as people or supporters.”

While Grealish appear to feel the love from the City faithful, that adoration hasn’t been replicated around the rest of the Premier League grounds.

The winger is on the receiving end of boos wherever the Etihad outfit travel to play, but it has left Grealish perplexed.

“I always think about it,” he said. “I always wonder, ‘why do they boo me?’ – and my mum always asks me about it as well. But I don’t actually know why it happens.

“At every single away ground I go to now, I get booed and I’m not entirely sure why it is – I just have to try and take it as a positive or a compliment.”

Grealish has had an up-and-down campaign, due in large part to lengthy absences through injury.

In just 15 Premier League appearances this season, the winger has racked up only three goals and one assist.
