Manchester City battling Arsenal for signature of Fiorentina right-back amid Kyle Walker and Sergio Gomez uncertainty
Manchester City are set to battle Premier League title rival Arsenal for the signature of Fiorentina defender Michael Kayode.
The teenage defender has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester City and Arsenal potentially set for a second successive summer of transfer battling, following a tense fight for the signing of Declan Rice from West Ham last year.
Pep Guardiola is set to bolster his squad in the summer market and the future of Kyle Walker could impact the Sky Blues’ transfer plans, with the 33-year-old captain subject to uncertainty at the Etihad Stadium.
Walker penned a new deal at Manchester City in September after snubbing interest from Bayern Munich, however both the Englishman and fellow Manchester City full-back Sergio Gomez have been linked with summer exits.
A departure from either of the duo could see Guardiola add a new full-back in the summer window, and Sport Witness relay claims from Italy, linking Manchester City with a move to Fiorentina and Italy full-back Michael Kayode.
The 19-year-old has made 19 Serie A appearances and six UEFA Europa Conference League appearances so far this season, registering five direct goal involvements across the two competitions.
Kayode is contracted at Fiorentina until 2028, with the potential for the versatile full-back to extend his stay with the Italian club for an additional year until 2029.
‘Everyone is crazy’ about the teenager according to Sport Witness, with Manchester City amongst the defender’s suitors, alongside the Gunners, AC Milan and Inter Milan.
Manchester City’s Sergio Gomez has been linked with a summer exit, with the 23-year-old Spaniard having made only four starts so far this season.
Goalkeeper Stefan Ortega, who has made just 11 appearances, has also been subject to talk of a departure from the Etihad Stadium after stalling contract talks.
