Manchester City trio receive nominations for leading end-of-season Premier League awards

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City lead the way in all three categories for the Premier League’s annual end-of-season awards, with Erling Haaland and Phil Foden starring.

The entire Manchester City operation remains very much focussed on the business end of the season and the crucial run-in that faces the reigning Treble winners, with four matches still to be played out in the final month of the campaign.

Fulham are Manchester City’s next opponents, with the champions returning to London just three days later for a meeting against Tottenham in a crucial Premier League double-header that could finalise the club’s fate heading into the final weekend.

Should Manchester City win their remaining two Premier League away matches, they will know that victory against David Moyes’ West Ham at the Etihad Stadium will secure them a record-breaking fourth successive top-flight crown.

An FA Cup final against Manchester United also awaits the club in the final competitive match of the season, in what is a repeat of last season’s showpiece final that set the club en route to their historic Treble success.

Now, the Premier League have recognised the remarkable form of Manchester City, and the individual performances of two of their star men up front, as well as the commander in chief on the touchline.

As confirmed by the Premier League on Thursday, Manchester City’s attacking sensations Phil Foden and Erling Haaland have both been nominated for the 2023/24 Young Player of the Season award.

The boyhood Manchester City fans have been joined in the category by their former teammate Cole Palmer, as well as two names from their Premier League title rivals Arsenal, with the destiny of the top-flight crown still to be decided.
