Premier League champions Manchester City have reportedly made contact over the prospect of signing RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo, with a release clause valid this summer.

The 26-year-old is the latest in a growing collection of names being linked with interest from the Etihad Stadium, with Manchester City officials widely expected to explore the possibility of recruiting in the middle of the park.

Lucas Paqueta is expected to be seriously looked at by Manchester City transfer bosses this summer, providing that the West Ham playmaker is cleared by the Football Association of his betting allegations amid an ongoing investigation.

Elsewhere, Bruno Guimaraes is another player that is likely to be explored, with the Brazilian having a £100 million release clause becoming active for a one-month period in the coming weeks and following the conclusion of the ongoing season.

However, the latest reports concerning Manchester City’s transfer activity and interest in midfield recruitment has led them to the German game, and a profile that Pep Guardiola and his players will know well.

According to the information of German outlet SportBILD, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, Manchester City are one of the sides to have been in touch with RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo, but are yet to make their interest ‘concrete’.

It is however reiterated that Olmo has ‘no time pressure’ on a decision this summer, with his €65 million release clause from the Bundesliga side running until July, while the ‘growing belief’ is that the Spaniard will leave Leipzig this summer.

Barcelona are another of the sides who have reportedly been interested in Olmo and even had a ‘secret meeting’ with the player’s entourage. However, unsurprisingly, the La Liga club have no way of paying Olmo’s release clause and need it reducing or payment terms changing.

Manchester City have faced off against Dani Olmo on numerous occasions in UEFA Champions League action, however the Spaniard was absent from both group stage games in the competition earlier this season.

Despite the ongoing season being one marred by various fitness difficulties, Dani Olmo has still managed to register 25 appearances across all competitions for RB Leipzig, scoring eight goals and providing five assists in the process.

Olmo was last quizzed on rumours concerning his future and Manchester City last summer, to which he responded, “Nothing! I’m fully focused on the task in Leipzig, the Bundesliga, the Champions League and the cup.

“Manchester City are a big club, one of the biggest in the world. Josko (Gvardiol) went there. But I’m happy here.”
