Manchester City have announced their 21-man travelling squad to face FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

Pep Guardiola’s side will embark on their latest knock-out stage adventure with two meetings against the Danish giants, following on from their group stage meetings during their memorable Champions League adventure of last season.

Following a 5-0 victory at home against Copenhagen, Manchester City’s meeting at Parken last season saw the Blues reduced to 10-men, see a wonder goal ruled out via VAR, and held to a 0-0 draw on a frustrating evening.

This season, Manchester City cruised through their group stage campaign with six wins out of a possible six, ensuring that they would receive a somewhat favourable draw in the first round of the knock-out stages this season.

However, Copenhagen will be far from an easy task, with the Denmark-based club showcasing their talents in their own group stage by progressing from a group involving Bayern Munich, Manchester United, and Galatasaray.

Manchester City however are in high spirits having won all of their previous 10 matches across all competitions, including success at the FIFA Club World Cup, and FA Cup ties against Huddersfield Town and Tottenham Hotspur.

Ahead of Tuesday night’s Champions League clash in the Danish capital, Pep Guardiola has now named his travelling squad for the contest at Parken Stadium.

21-man travelling Manchester City squad vs Copenhagen

Goalkeepers: Ederson, Stefan Ortega, Scott Carson

Defenders: Rico Lewis, Kyle Walker, Manuel Akanji, Ruben Dias, John Stones, Nathan Ake

Fitness notes

Mateo Kovacic will play no part in the contest in Denmark having been absent from the weekend’s meeting with Everton in the Premier League, and subsequently the final training session before the flight to Copenhagen on Monday afternoon.

Josko Gvardiol joins his fellow Croatia international, while there have been no further details provided by either Manchester City or Pep Guardiola upon their arrival in Copenhagen on Monday evening.

Sergio Gomez is also absent.
