Full Squad List: Two players absent as 22-man squad trains ahead of Copenhagen last-16 Champions League tie
Manchester City have now finalised their preparations for the UEFA Champions League last-16 first-leg clash with Danish giants FC Copenhagen on Tuesday night.
Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City players are scheduled to arrive in the Danish capital on Monday evening, undertaking media duties and taking their first look around the Parken Stadium before the showdown this week.
City last met with FC Copenhagen in the group stage segment of their successful UEFA Champions League journey last season, winning via a 5-0 rout at the Etihad Stadium but being held to a 0-0 draw in Copenhagen.
Away from home, it was a ten-man Manchester City side that not only missed a penalty but also had a sensational Rodri goal ruled out in a VAR-dominated goalless draw, but still reached the last-16 of the Champions League.
Manchester City come into Tuesday night’s face-off fresh off the back of a 2-0 Premier League win over strugglers Everton, as the reigning Champions made it 10 wins in a row across all competitions, including the FA Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
After weeks of difficulties on the injury front, Pep Guardiola has been boosted by a largely fully-fit and available squad in recent days, while a fresh update has emerged from the camp following Monday morning’s open training session.
Here is a complete list of Manchester City players that featured in the open segment of Pep Guardiola’s training session at the City Football Academy on Monday!
22-man Manchester City training squad ahead of FC Copenhagen
Goalkeepers: Ederson, Stefan Ortega Moreno, Scott Carson
Defenders: Kyle Walker, Rico Lewis, John Stones, Manuel Akanji, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, Tomas Galvez
Midfielders: Rodrigo, Mahamadou Susoho, Jacob Wright, Matheus Nunes, Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden
Forwards: Jack Grealish, Jeremy Doku, Oscar Bobb, Julian Alvarez, Erling Haaland
Following on from his surprise absence from the Manchester City matchday squad that defeated Everton on Saturday afternoon, Mateo Kovacic remained away from the first-team action in training this week.
Joining Kovacic was his fellow Croatia international Josko Gvardiol, who also played no part in the open section of training ground duties on Monday morning. There remains a possibility that either player may have been undergoing personal training within the facilities.
Pep Guardiola could provide an update on both players when he addresses the media from Copenhagen on Monday evening.
