Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has announced a double Manchester City injury blow ahead of Saturday’s trip to St James’ Park.

The treble-winners travel to Newcastle United looking to move to within two points of league leaders Liverpool in the table this weekend, as Manchester City continue their bid to win a fourth successive Premier League title.

Guardiola’s side can stretch their unbeaten run in all competitions to nine matches on Saturday, with the trip to Tyneside one of only two Premier League fixtures for the Sky Blues this month.

Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku could both return to Premier League action this weekend, after the Belgian pair featured from the substitutes bench against Huddersfield Town in the Emirates FA Cup last Sunday.

De Bruyne could make just his second Premier League appearance of the season, with the 32-year-old having suffered a serious hamstring injury against Burnley on the opening weekend of the campaign in August.

Manchester City remain without a fully fit squad however, with Erling Haaland and John Stones set to miss the clash with Newcastle United, and concerns around Jack Grealish due to illness.

Haaland, who jointly-leads the Premier League Golden Boot race, hasn’t featured for Manchester City since a 1-0 loss to Villa Park, with the Norway international set to miss a ninth successive match due to a foot injury.

Stones will also miss the trip to St James’ Park after the England international suffered an injury against Everton following a nasty collision.

“Jack [Grealish] has been sick and hopefully today he is back. Erling [Haaland] is out and John [Stones] is out. I think that’s everything,” said Guardiola.
