Confirmed Line-Ups: Newcastle United vs Manchester City (Premier League)
Pep Guardiola has named his team to face Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Saturday evening, as Manchester City look for their first Premier League win of 2024.
Manchester City have the opportunity to close the gap to league leaders Liverpool to two points this weekend, as Pep Guardiola’s side look to stretch their current unbeaten run to nine matches, when they travel to Tyneside.
Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku both returned from injury for last weekend’s 5-0 thrashing of Huddersfield Town in the Emirates FA Cup, as Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez both added to their goalscoring tallies.
Newcastle also progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a win over bitter rivals Sunderland, with the competition providing a welcome break for Eddie Howe’s side, after they slumped to 9th in the Premier League table.
Manchester City have failed to win on either of their previous two visits to St James’ Park, drawing 3-3 in the Premier League last season and losing 1-0 in the Carabao Cup in September.
Julian Alvarez scored the winner during a 1-0 win over Newcastle at the Etihad Stadium in August, with City unbeaten in their past eight Premier League matches against the Magpies.
Ahead of kick-off at St James’ Park, both Eddie Howe and Pep Guardiola have now confirmed their respective starting line-ups.
