Manchester City supporters have largely reacted with anger on social media after the club confirmed details around their upcoming FA Cup fourth round fixture.

City have reached the next round of the tournament courtesy of a dominant 5-0 victory over Championship side Huddersfield Town at the Etihad Stadium last weekend, hoping to retain the trophy for the first time under Pep Guardiola.

However, City now face a testing trip to Ange Postecoglou’s side in the coming days, after the draw paired the current holders with Tottenham with a space in the fifth round up for grabs on the night.

Manchester City will be facing Tottenham for the second time this season, before the reverse fixture in the Premier League, after the two teams met in the English top-flight drawing 3-3 in early December.

As confirmed in an official Club statement this week, Manchester City’s FA Cup fourth round tie away to Tottenham will take place on Friday 26 January, with kick-off scheduled for 20:00 (UK).

Manchester City have also confirmed that the heavyweight clash in the Cup between two of the Premier League’s stand-out clubs so far this season will be screened in the UK on ITV1 as well as UTV, STV and ITVX.

However, with an allocation expected to exceed 8,500 for Manchester City’s travelling fans, the majority of those on social media have been reacting with anger to the confirmed details with concerns over travel arrangements and a lack of care for supporters once again.

One supporter responded to news of the confirmed fixture with an image illustrating a poster indicating towards a lack of care for the welfare of football fans, while another social media user said, “Disgrace of a kick-off time!”

Just days after Manchester City’s Friday night clash in the capital, supporters will once again be forced to travel to London just days later, as Pep Guardiola’s side are scheduled to take on Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Monday 5 February at 20:00 (UK).

That contest will however be rearranged further, should an FA Cup replay be required between Tottenham and Manchester City later this month.
