Manchester City have the opportunity to achieve Pep Guardiola’s ultimate post-Treble goal this month, following comments from the Etihad Stadium manager last year.

Following on from a dominant 5-0 victory over Championship side Huddersfield Town on Sunday afternoon, Manchester City have now found out what awaits them in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup later this month.

City will take on Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur for the second time this season as they look to reach the fifth round of the most historic domestic cup competition in England, and it could also be a momentous occasion for manager Pep Guardiola.

The Catalan coach has recently stated that one particular achievement at the home of the North London club would be the ultimate next target after his side’s Treble success, such is the difficult of the task.

Quizzed by Sky Sports on what would be his next challenge at Manchester City after winning the Treble last season, Pep Guardiola responded, “To score a goal against Spurs away… I stay (at Manchester City) because I want to beat Spurs away!”

Manchester City are expected to travel to face Tottenham in the fourth round of the FA Cup following the conclusion of the Premier League winter break and the reigning Champions’ planned warm weather training camp in Abu Dhabi.

The clash in the capital will be City’s penultimate match of January, with a meeting against Vincent Kompany’s Burnley at the Etihad Stadium pencilled in for the final week of the first month of the year.

Manchester City will be hoping that they will have a full compliment of players by the time the contest comes around, with Erling Haaland working towards full fitness following the return of Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku on Sunday afternoon.

John Stones is also continuing his recovery process from an ankle injury sustained against Everton in the Premier League last month, but his appearance in individual work is a positive sign towards a return to action in the coming weeks.
