Confirmed Line-Ups: Manchester City vs Huddersfield Town (FA Cup Third Round)
Manchester City will be looking to ring in the new year with a victory on Sunday as they play host to Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup third round.
Pep Guardiola’s side are finally back in action after 2023 turned into 2024, as the Etihad outfit will host EFL Championship side Huddersfield Town at the Etihad. A win would see City advance to the fourth round of the FA Cup as they look to retain to the trophy.
It was a routine victory for the Premier League outfit last time out, comfortably dispatching strugglers Sheffield United 2-0 in league action, seeing the Blues move into third place, five points behind league leaders Liverpool – though City have a game in hand.
City could be without a handful of first team stars against Huddersfield however, as a sickness swept through the first-team camp late in the week heading into the cup tie. City boss Pep Guardiola confirmed that up to four first team stars have been impacted by the bug.
To compound their frustration, City have not been immune to the ongoing injury crisis across European football. The Etihad side have been without Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku in recent weeks, while talisman Kevin De Bruyne is only just returning from hamstring surgery.
Despite the trials and tribulations of the Blues, Guardiola will still have to select eleven players to square off with the Championship side Sunday afternoon. Ahead of kick-off, the two lineups have been revealed.
