Etihad Stadium bosses are reportedly confident of finalising a new contract agreement with breakthrough Manchester City and Norway star Oscar Bobb.

The versatile Norway star has been thrusted into the limelight this season, having been viewed by coaching staff within the reigning Premier League champions as the next talent to be coached closely by Pep Guardiola at first-team level.

Oscar Bobb has so far recorded appearances in the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, and Carabao Cup, whilst also earning his first senior caps for Norway in which he has also provided goals and assists in the process.

Speaking after the recent defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers, in which Oscar Bobb was brought on at half-time, manager Pep Guardiola glowed on the youngster’s abilities to provide a different dimension to his star-studded squad.

“Oscar is really good to find in smaller spaces with the creativity he has to find someone,” Guardiola explained at Molineux earlier this season. “That was the reason, not because he (Matheus Nunes) was playing not good. I thought Oscar could give something different.”

Now it appears as though Manchester City’s boardroom decision makers have been equally impressed by the former Vålerenga youngster’s rise at the Etihad Stadium, as they work towards a fresh contract extension to tie the player’s future to the north-west of England.

That is according to the information of 90min, who report that the Premier League champions are closing in on an agreement with Oscar Bobb over a new contract.

Pep Guardiola and City blocked an exit for Bobb in the summer despite interest from a number of clubs across Europe. 90min’s report mentions Atalanta, Lazio and Union Berlin all to have expressed an interest in the player, alongside Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.

Despite the possible attraction of a move elsewhere, with increased game-time at senior level on the table, Manchester City are reportedly not worried and hope to finalise an extension with Oscar Bobb in the coming weeks.

As for the stance taken by the player himself, it is further detailed that the 20-year-old forward is known to be happy at Manchester City and is keen to continue his development under manager Pep Guardiola.

Oscar Bobb himself has recently admitted in public of his delight at life with Manchester City, telling Norwegian media, “It’s nice. It’s a place you want to be. It’s the best place you can be to develop and improve as a footballer. There is not one person (in the dressing room) who stands out.”

Such is Oscar Bobb’s happiness with the Treble winners that he didn’t shy away from a line of questioning around the possibility of staying with Manchester City for the rest of his career, as he continued, “My agents and the club take care of that (contract talks).

“I don’t know anything. That would be cool (staying at Manchester City for the rest of my life)… I feel like I have a lot to grow on. In my head, I can get a lot smarter.”
