Francois Letexier will take charge of the UEFA Super Cup Final between Manchester City and Sevilla in Greece on Wednesday evening.

Manchester City are bidding to win their first piece of silverware of the new season in midweek, participating in the UEFA Super Cup following last season’s maiden Champions League triumph.

Pep Guardiola’s side will meet Sevilla, the winner’s of the UEFA Europa League, at the Stadio Georgios Karaiskakis in Athens, Greece, on Wednesday evening.

City beat the La Liga side in the Champions League Group Stages last season, winning 4-0 in Spain and 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Erling Haaland, who scored a brace in Manchester City’s Premier League win over Burnley at Turf Moor on Friday evening, netted his first European goal for the Sky Blues during the win against Sevilla last season.

Manchester City missed out on winning the FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium earlier this month, but could win six trophies during the course of the campaign, as winning the Champions League also booked the Blues’ place in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Ahead of the Super Cup in Athens on Wednesday evening, UEFA have announced the Match Officials for the clash between Manchester City and Sevilla.

Match Referee

Francois Letexier has been named as the referee for Manchester City’s Super Cup clash against Sevilla on Wednesday evening.

The French referee took charge of 33 matches last season; showing 129 yellow cards and six red cards.

Letexier has never previously officiated Manchester City, but did officiate a Europa League clash between Sevilla and Fenerbahce in March.

The 34-year-old took charge of numerous high profile Champions League matches last season, namely a clash between Real Madrid and Chelsea.

Letexier will be accompanied in Athens by Assistant Referees Cyril Mugnier and Mehdi Rahmouni.

UEFA have appointed three Video Assistant Referees to the match: Jerome Brisard, Eric Wattellier and Fedayi San.
