Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has hilariously stopped a fan from taking a picture with him after realising he was wearing a Manchester United shirt.

The 22-year-old has been concluding his duties for the 2022/23 season with two matches for his international side, as Norway look to get their 2024 European Championship qualification back on track.

Haaland scored two goals on Tuesday night as part of a 3-1 win over Cyprus, to recover from a shock 1-2 home defeat at the hands of high-flying Scotland in Group A. Norway currently have one win, one draw, and two defeats to their name.

After completing the camp this week, Erling Haaland took a moment to greet supporters who had waited for his arrival outside the international side’s training hub, but held back one fan from taking a photo after noticing the club shirt he was sporting.

In footage captured by TV2 Sport, one young fan wearing a Manchester United shirt asked the Manchester City striker for a photo, “Erling, can I take a picture?”

At first, the former Borussia Dortmund forward appeared to agree, before glancing down at the youngster’s Manchester United kit and proceeding to stop the first photo before covering up the crest of the Old Trafford club.

Haaland said, “Wait… Take a picture now!” after blocking the sight of the club badge of Manchester City’s bitter local rivals. He continued, “Take another picture, take another picture like this!”

While walking away, Haaland is captured hilariously telling the United supporter to “get yourself a new shirt,” in comments that have sent Manchester City fans into a frenzy on social media in support of their star forward.

Erling Haaland will now head off on his summer holidays for a few weeks of well-deserved rest following a season that saw him and his teammates make history as Manchester City won a historic treble of silverware.

City’s early claiming of the Premier League title ahead of rivals Arsenal was followed by a 2-1 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup final, before overcoming the challenge of Inter in the Champions League final via a 1-0 scoreline.

Haaland and his teammates are expected back in pre-season training for Manchester City towards the end of July, as the club prepare for a tour of Asia where they will take on three friendly fixtures against Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Yokohama F. Marinos.
