Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have become the latest club to emerge as a candidate to sign Kyle Walker from Manchester City this summer, according to reports.

The 33 year-old has been heavily linked with an exit from the Etihad Stadium over the past 24 hours, after it emerged that a transfer had a high possibility after becoming frustrated over game-time throughout the last campaign.

Walker is also understood to have been left disappointed at missing out on a starting position in the UEFA Champions League final against Inter, especially after his outstanding performances at the semi-final stage against Real Madrid.

Since first reports emerged of a transfer being a possibility this summer, a return to boyhood club Sheffield United has been mooted, while Aston Villa and West Ham United have also been linked with an interest in the veteran full-back.

Now however, one of Europe’s most premier clubs has seemingly entered the race for the right-back, with reports linking Bayern Munich with an interest in the situation concerning the Premier League legend.

According to the information of Nathan Gissing, Kyle Walker has now emerged as a target for Bayern Munich, with it being a possibility that he could leave Manchester City this summer. However, it is stated that nothing is advanced at the moment.

Further details from Florian Plettenberg states that Walker has been discussed internally at the Allianz Arena, although no contact between Bayern Munich and the player’s management has taken place yet.

A slightly contradicting report from Patrick Berger and Kerry Hau of SPORT1 however claims that initial talks have taken place between the two clubs involved, as well as on the player’s side.

It is additionally reported that the 33-year-old is now ‘ready for a new adventure’ after winning the treble with Manchester City, and Thomas Tuchel is a fan of his mentality.

Walker has been integral to Manchester City’s success under Pep Guardiola, after joining the club in the summer of 2017 in a reported £50 million transfer from North London side Tottenham Hotspur.

The former Aston Villa and Sheffield United defender has made more appearances at the Etihad Stadium than any of his previous sides, recording a staggering 254 appearances across all competitions and showing no signs of deteriorating in physical ability.

City are understood to be in the market for a new right-back this summer, however with available options across Europe known to be at a premium, increased game time for Rico Lewis and converting the likes of John Stones and Manuel Akanji into the position may be called upon.

The treble winners are also intensifying their pursuit of Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig, alongside a deal for Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic – who is expected to complete a switch to Manchester City in the next two weeks.
