Manchester City assistant manager Enzo Maresca is being lined up by Celtic as a possible managerial replacement for Ange Postecoglou.

The Greek-Australian coach, who has previously managed at Manchester City sister club Yokohama F. Marinos, has been heavily linked with a potential move to the Premier League this summer.

Both Wolves and Tottenham are reportedly interested in the current Celtic manager, with Spurs yet to replace Antonio Conte, who they sacked in March.

Postecoglou has been at Celtic since 2021 and as well as leading the Glasgow club to the Scottish Premiership title, is currently bidding to complete a treble, with an upcoming Scottish Cup Final.

Amid growing fears that the Celtic manager could move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, the Hoops have reportedly started lining up potential managerial replacements, including Manchester City assistant manager Enzo Maresca.

Football Insider claim that the Italian is on the “radar” of Celtic, as they asses the market for potential managerial replacements.

Maresca returned to Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff in 2022 and was part of Manchester City’s backroom coaching team for their 2022/23 Premier League title triumph.

The Italian, who previously managed the Manchester City Elite Development Squad to the Premier League 2 title, returned to the Etihad Stadium after a short spell managing Parma.

The 43 year-old has also worked with former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini, supporting the Chilean during his time at West Ham United.

Furthermore, Maresca had an illustrious playing career; playing for Juventus, Sevilla, Fiorentina and Olympiacos.

Maresca wouldn’t be the first member of Pep Guardiola’s backroom staff to leave the Catalan to take up a first-team job.

Mikel Arteta famously departed the Etihad Stadium to become Arsenal head coach in 2019, with the Gunners having just been involved in a Premier League title race with the Sky Blues.

Domènec Torrent, who worked alongside Guardiola at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and City, became New York City FC manager in 2018.

Most recently, Juanma Lillo left the Blues in 2022 to become Al-Sadd head coach.

Speaking about his time at Manchester City last year, Lillo said: “My time at Manchester City has been one of the most enjoyable periods of my career.

“To work alongside Pep, his backroom staff and this group of players has been a pleasure and I hope to have contributed in a small way to the fantastic success we have enjoyed on the pitch.”
