Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has provided a worrying update on the fitness of duo Ruben Dias and Jack Grealish ahead of huge clashes against Manchester United and Inter Milan.

The pair were amongst a number of absentees for Manchester City’s disappointing 1-0 loss to Brentford in West London on Sunday afternoon, as Pep Guardiola’s side concluded their Premier League campaign with defeat.

Ethan Pinnock’s late goal ended City’s incredible 25-match winning streak, as the Bees became the only Premier League side to do the double over Manchester City this season.

The 1-0 loss was also the Blues’ first on the final day of the campaign for over a decade, as the Premier League champions finished the campaign with 89 points – five more than second placed Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola made a series of changes for Sunday’s match against Brentford, with Erling Haaland, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva all amongst the substitutes.

Ruben Dias, Jack Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne were all absent from matchday squad, with Dias and Grealish having missed both games since last weekend’s 1-0 win against Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium.

The FA Cup Final against Manchester United is less than a week away and the UEFA Champions League Final in Istanbul is fast approaching, as City bid to become the first team to complete the treble since 1999.

Guardiola provided a concerning update on the fitness of Dias and Grealish ahead of these finals, revealing that both had been absent from first-team training for over a week.

“Ruben [Dias] didn’t train 10 days, [Jack] Grealish neither,” revealed the City manager post-match.

“After Brighton, Kevin [De Bruyne] felt the same feelings as before, a few weeks ago. They couldn’t play a few games. It’s not a big issue. I think they will be ready [for Wembley].”

The Blues face Manchester United at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, the first FA Cup Final between the two local rivals in the competitions history.

City thrashed United 6-3 at the Etihad Stadium in October though suffered a 2-1 loss at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture in January.

Manchester City are looking to win the FA Cup for the first time since 2019 next weekend, while United are looking to do the domestic cup double, having won the League Cup in February.
