Manchester City will look to continue their hot streak of dominance this week, as they travel south to take on high-flying Brighton at the Amex Stadium.

The weekend’s contest saw Pep Guardiola and his players host Chelsea in a match that served as both a Premier League trophy ceremony and an opportunity to shine for some of City’s players who have largely been reserved on the bench this season.

Julian Alvarez – who has largely been restricted to consistent opportunities by the staggering form of Erling Haaland – certainly soaked up the experience, as he took control of a pass from Cole Palmer to slide past the reach of a diving Kepa to give City the lead.

The young Argentine forward almost earned himself a brace later on in the contest, yet his second goal of the match was overturned by VAR following a handball from Riyad Mahrez in the build-up.

Terrific goalkeeping efforts from Stefan Ortega kept Frank Lampard’s attacking threat contained, which would help sweeten the day for Manchester City as the Etihad Stadium turf was engulfed by supporters in jubilation upon the full-time whistle.

On the other side of Wednesday’s ticket sits Brighton & Hove Albion, who come into the match off the back of a 3-1 victory against Southampton that secured their place in the UEFA Europa League for the 2023/24 season.

A brace from star forward Evan Ferguson and a solo strike from Pascal Groß would be enough to put Roberto De Zerbi’s side on top, and wrapping up a well-deserved prize in European competition for next season.
