Confirmed Match Officials: Brighton vs Manchester City (Premier League)
Simon Hooper will take charge of Manchester City’s trip to the AMEX to face Brighton on Wednesday evening, the Premier League have announced.
Pep Guardiola’s side were crowned Premier League champions for a third consecutive season last weekend, as Arsenal suffered a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening.
The Sky Blues beat Chelsea and lifted the Premier League trophy at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon, as Julian Alvarez’s first half strike extended City’s unbeaten streak to 24 matches.
City travel to the AMEX Stadium on Wednesday evening for the penultimate match of their 2022/23 Premier League campaign, with a buoyant Brighton awaiting the Premier League champions.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side guaranteed a place in a European competition for next season at the weekend, although the Seagulls still require a point to secure Europa League football.
City beat Brighton 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium in October, as an Erling Haaland brace helped the Blues to victory.
Brighton recently beat both Arsenal and Southampton but have suffered heavy defeats to both Everton and Newcastle, losing 5-1 and 4-1 respectively.
Ahead of the midweek clash, the Premier League have announced the Match Officials for Manchester City’s visit to Brighton.
Match Referee
Simon Hooper will take charge of proceedings between City and Brighton at the AMEX on Wednesday evening.
The 40 year-old has officiated 30 matches so far this season, showing 106 yellow cards and one red card.
Hooper last took charge of City in April, when the Blues beat Fulham 2-1 at Craven Cottage.
Assistant Referees
Hooper will be accompanied on the south coast by Assistant Referees Adrian Holmes and Nick Hopton.
Video Assistant Referees
Overviewing proceedings will be Video Assistant Referee Chris Kavanagh and Assistant Video Assistant Referee Gary Beswick.
Fourth Official
Graham Scott has been named as the Fourth Official.
The referee will be overseeing conduct within the two dugouts, and the behaviour of managers Roberto De Zerbi and Pep Guardiola.
