Szymon Marciniak to referee Manchester City vs Inter in UEFA Champions League Final

Szymon Marciniak will referee the 2023 UEFA Champions League Final between Manchester City and Inter, it has been announced.

Manchester City will meet Inter at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul on Saturday 10th June, as Pep Guardiola’s side bid to win the prestigious European competition for the first time.

The recently crowned Premier League champions have beaten both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid to reach the Champions League Final, thrashing both the German and Spanish heavyweights at the Etihad Stadium.

City beat Bayern Munich 3-0 at home in the quarter-finals before thumping holders Real Madrid 4-0 in the second-leg of their semi-final tie.

Bernardo Silva scored twice against Real Madrid prior to second half goals from Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez to ensure a momentous victory.

Inter beat local rivals AC to reach a first Champions League Final in over a decade, with the Italian side having never played Manchester City competitively before.

City are still unbeaten in the Champions League this season and are in the Final for a second time in three years, after a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea in 2021.

Ahead of the Champions League Final in Turkey next month, UEFA have announced the Match Officials for the fixture.

Match Referee

Szymon Marciniak will referee the 2023 Champions League Final between Manchester City and Inter.

The 42 year-old, who officiated the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final, has taken charge of 31 matches so far this season; showing 139 yellow cards and two red cards.

The Polish referee took charge of the second-leg semi-final win over Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium in May.

Assistant Referees

Marciniak will be accompanied by Assistant Referees Paweł Sokolnicki and Tomasz Listkiewicz.

Video Assistant Referees

Overviewing proceedings will be Video Assistant Referee Tomasz Kwiatkowski, Assistant Video Assistant Referee Bartosz Frankowski and VAR Support Marco Fritz.

Fourth Official

István Kovács has been named as the Fourth Official.

The official will be overseeing conduct within the two dugouts, and the behaviour of managers Pep Guardiola and Simone Inzaghi.

Reserve Assistant Referee

Vasile Florin Marinescu has been named as the Reserve Assistant Referee.
