Pep Guardiola and Manchester City have been crowned 2022/23 Premier League champions following Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening.

A single strike from Taiwo Awoniyi secured all three points for Steve Cooper’s side at the City Ground ahead of Manchester City’s next game, meaning the Etihad Stadium will be home to the Premier League champions for the third successive season ahead of kick-off.

City take on Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium, as Frank Lampard’s side travel north with the hope of somewhat spoiling a party that is unlikely to be ruined given the manner in which Pep Guardiola and his players have turned around the ongoing season.

The Chelsea manager has kept the idea of his side giving Manchester City a guard of honour open, stating that is something that would be considered ahead of kick-off at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester City have now become Premier League champions for the fifth time in the last six seasons, in a remarkable achievement for the entire organisation but particularly for Pep Guardiola and the coaching behind the on-field performances.

It is understood that Manchester City have already been briefed on the Premier League’s trophy presentation schedule, which has been planned to the second and will get underway following the full-time whistle of the contest with Chelsea.

The latest Premier League title triumph is the first of potentially three trophies for Manchester City this season, as the Blues bid to win a potential treble, with a Champions League Final and FA Cup Final next month.

Summer signing Erling Haaland has played a pivotal role in Manchester City’s latest title success, scoring a record-breaking 36 Premier League goals during his maiden campaign.

Meanwhile, several members of Pep Guardiola’s squad have become five-time Premier League winners, including 22 year-old Phil Foden.
