Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has hailed Kevin De Bruyne for his dedication to his team, after Manchester City progressed into the Champions League final.

The midfielder scored and provided two assists across the two semi-final meetings with Real Madrid to help City defeat the 14-time European Champions to reach the showpiece final in Istanbul next month.

However, many Manchester City supporters have been left concerned about the Belgian international, as he looked far from himself when coming off the pitch at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

Some fans recalled his emotional celebration and his gesture towards the sky after scoring the equaliser at the Santiago Bernabeu a fortnight ago, while fresh comments from Thierry Henry have somewhat confirmed fears over the player’s current situation.

Following the 4-0 win over Real Madrid in midweek, De Bruyne greeted Henry by the touchline, where the Arsenal and France legend congratulated the Manchester City star on his performance and securing a place in the Champions League final.

Henry opened up on their interaction on CBS Sports’ Champions League Show, admitting that he could not reveal the full details of their conversation due to the private nature of the subject at hand.

Thierry Henry did however admit to respecting the 32 year-old “even more,” after learning about his recent battles.

“It was (a touching moment),” the Frenchman said. “I can’t say it because I have to keep that private. But from what he said to me, I even more respect how he played tonight and how he came and battled with his team.”

“I can’t share what he said because I can’t share it. That’s how it is. But once again, I will go back to, for me, he is the most important player.”

A clip from the match – which has since gone viral across social media – highlights Kevin De Bruyne yelling, “Shut up! Shut up!” in the direction of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, who himself was screaming instructions from the sideline.

The Catalan manager later revealed during a press conference that he has a relationship with De Bruyne whereby they yell at each other on a regular basis in-game, and even more so during training sessions.

At present, there remains no concrete details on what might be affecting Kevin De Bruyne behind the scenes, however that has not stopped City fans from sending their love and support to the player.
