A noticeable reduction in game-time this season may ultimately force Aymeric Laporte out of Manchester City this summer, according to a recent report.

The ongoing campaign has seen Pep Guardiola rotate his defence and reshape the tactical format of the back-line significantly, with increased game-time for the likes of Manuel Akanji, Rico Lewis, and Nathan Ake in particular.

The latter has established himself strongly as the mainstay left-back, while teenage prodigy Lewis has largely been responsible for the success seen in the utilising of an inverted right-back role.

While this has had huge benefits on the fortunes of Manchester City when it comes to results and the ability to fight on three fronts late into the season, it has come at the expense of Aymeric Laporte – who continue to struggle for game-time.

Having been restricted to just 20 appearances across all competitions this season, the 28 year-old may feel that his time at the club is coming to an end, and seek a fresh challenge away from the Premier League champions.

According to the information of Football Insider, Aymeric Laporte has now told his representatives to find him a new club ahead of the summer transfer window, with a view towards reigniting his career through a move to a top club and the role of a regular starter.

From the viewpoint of officials within the Etihad Stadium, it is disclosed that Manchester City are expected to be willing to offers for the Spain international, but would rather sell to a club away from the Premier League.

Last summer saw a number of key first-team starters for Pep Guardiola leave the club, with a trio of players joining direct Premier League rivals, and two names in particular mounting a serious top-flight title challenge with their new club.

Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus brought an end to their respective careers with Manchester City by joining Mikel Arteta and his hugely impressive project at Arsenal this season.

Elsewhere, Raheem Sterling joined Chelsea but has endured very opposing fortunes under Graham Potter and now Frank Lampard, as the Stamford Bridge club look to revive themselves following the early downfalls of the Todd Boehly regime.

City will look to avoid a similar situation when it comes to Aymeric Laporte, with Pep Guardiola and senior club officials well aware of the talents of the player, should he decide that an exit is the best direction in his career.
