Games continue to come thick and fast as Manchester City host another contest at the Etihad Stadium, with Leeds United paying a visit on Saturday afternoon.

There is no rest for the wicked, as Manchester City must use the momentum gained less than 72 hours prior against West Ham United to push through against Sam Allardyce’s Leeds this weekend.

The Yorkshire club are looking to avoid relegation into the EFL Championship this season – a mission they are so determined to complete that they have appointed Allardyce with only a handful of matches remaining.

Leeds looked rather underwhelming under former manager Javi Gracia and decided to take a risk in sacking him with just four games of the season to go, and new boss Sam Allardyce had a lot to say about his counterpart Pep Guardiola ahead of the clash.

Allardyce boldly stated “There’s nobody ahead of me in football terms, not Pep (Guardiola), not (Jurgen) Klopp and not (Mikel) Arteta”.  A staggering claim which the Manchester City manager agreed with, claiming the Englishman was right.

The Catalan coach is looking to win the Premier League title for the third consecutive year this season, and a victory over Leeds United would be a massive boost in this quest.

Pep Guardiola has emphasised the brutality of the fixture list, saying his players looked tired in training after the recent victory over West Ham. Manchester City must pick themselves up and go again, with three competitions still to play for this season.

The form of the blues is nothing short of remarkable and coming at a crucial time in the season, with the business end being very much underway.

Erling Haaland felt the love at home last time out, after the Norwegian netted his 35th league goal of the season, making him the top scorer in a single Premier League campaign, surpassing Andy Cole and Alan Shearer’s previous tally of 34.

The achievement was celebrated accordingly, as the entire squad proceeded to slap the head of Erling Haaland, in a “painful” guard of honour, as per the man himself.

Chasing down records is the new norm for Haaland and Manchester City this season, as the striker closes in on Dixie Dean’s record of 60 goals in all competitions, while the club chase down the coveted treble.

A treble means beating Real Madrid and either Milan side in the Champions League, as well as Manchester United in the FA Cup final, but attention will be solely devoted to this weekend as far as Pep Guardiola and his players are concerned.

Whether rest and rotation is deployed with one eye on midweek, or Pep Guardiola opts for full strength, there will certainly be no slacking or underestimating, with this group of players looking more determined than ever to win some silverware this season.

Leeds United become the latest side standing in the way of Manchester City’s desires, but the home crowd on Saturday will look to spurn on the players to remove the Yorkshire club from their path as they vigorously chase down the illustrious trophies.
