Premier League champions Manchester City have now confirmed their plans to mark the Coronation of King Charles III this weekend.

Pep Guardiola and his players take on Leeds United in their latest Premier League challenge, with the Elland Road side travelling to the Etihad Stadium under newly-appointed manager Sam Allardyce.

The two sides were originally scheduled to meet on Sunday 7 May at 14:00, but due to Manchester City’s progression through to the Champions League semi-final stages, the contest was rearranged to it’s original date of Saturday 6 May at 15:00.

As such, Manchester City have now confirmed that they have made provisions to offer the televised coverage of King Charles III Coronation for match-going fans at the Etihad Stadium in the run-up to kick-off.

As confirmed by Jack Gaughan of the Mail on Thursday afternoon, Manchester City will be screening the Coronation outside of the Etihad Stadium ahead of kick-off in what is another hugely important contest for Manchester City and their hunt for a third consecutive Premier League title.

As well as that, City have also confirmed that they will be playing the national anthem, as per a request from the Premier League themselves earlier in the week.

It had been exclusively reported by Mike Keegan of the Mail that the Premier League had asked its clubs to play the national anthem ahead of their matches over Coronation weekend, with each ‘strongly suggested’ to play God Save the King.

It was further detailed by the newspaper that clubs had been asked to play the anthem with players and officials surrounding the centre circle, while an official portrait of the King and The Queen Consort and the Coronation Logo will be provided in order to be displayed on big screens during the airing of the anthem.

Manchester City have the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to four points, almost 24 hours prior to Arsenal’s next outing as the Gunners travel to the north-east to take on Champions League-chasing Newcastle United.

Next week also marks the start of Manchester City’s UEFA Champions League semi-final double-header, as they travel to the Spanish capital for part one of their tie with European experts Real Madrid.
