“We can’t wait to meet you” – Bernardo Silva and Ines Tomaz make Instagram announcement

Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has announced that he and his partner Ines Tomaz are expecting their first child together.

The Portugal international has been in a relationship with model Ines Degener Tomaz since 2020, and announced their engagement in 2022, meeting one another just before the worldwide lockdown due to Covid-19.

Tomaz and Bernardo Silva stayed together in Portugal during the lockdown, before relocating back to Manchester where they live together in an apartment in the Spinningfields region of the city centre.

Now, in the latest development of their relationship, the Manchester City midfielder and Ines Tomaz have this week announced that they are expecting their first child together.

In a wholesome Instagram post revealed on Friday afternoon, the pair said, “We can’t wait to meet you 👧🏼❤️ The best is yet to come!” as they were joined by their two dogs John and Charles in their Manchester apartment.

The former AS Monaco midfielder has previously revealed that his French Bulldog, John is actually named after Manchester City and England central defender John Stones.

Speaking last July, Stones explained, “Bernardo (Silva) was always joking in the dressing room about wanting a dog and telling everyone ‘I’m going to call it John Stones’ and I said why? So, he said, ‘So I can say ‘John, come here now!’

“It’s definitely to wind me up. It must mean he likes me!”

Bernardo Silva’s long-term future remains somewhat uncertain, and the birth of his first child is likely to have an impact on his final decision, with some believing that the Portuguese playmaker could seek a transfer in the coming summer.

Silva has been linked with consecutive moves away from Manchester City as he looks for an improved lifestyle closer to his native Portugal, with a move to Barcelona often being mooted in both English and Spanish press.
