Four Premier League teams including Newcastle United interested in Manchester City defender
On-loan Manchester City centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis is subject to transfer interest from four Premier League clubs including Champions League hopefuls Newcastle United.
The 21 year-old is currently on-loan at Turf Moor, where the defender looks to have helped Vincent Kompany’s Burnley return to the top-flight, as the Clarets near promotion back to the Premier League.
Burnley are 11 points clear at the top of the Sky Bet Championship and could confirm their promotion as early as Friday, depending on other results.
Harwood-Bellis has played a key role under Kompany, featuring in 30 matches, including 27 Championship fixtures.
The defender, who made eight first-team appearances for City, was unavailable for Burnley’s recent 6-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium in the Emirates FA Cup.
Harwood-Bellis has enjoyed previous loan spells in the Championship and is set for contract talks with City, as his current deal expires in 2024.
Burnley and Kompany are reportedly hopeful of re-signing the England U21 defender next season, however could face stiff competition for the centre-backs signature amid interest from a host of Premier League clubs.
As many as four Premier League sides are interested in signing Harwood-Bellis this summer, according to Graeme Bailey.
The journalist reports that Newcastle United, West Ham, Fulham and Brentford are all amongst the defenders suitors.
There is a ‘strong interest’ in the 21 year-old from St James’ Park with Newcastle considering whether to make a move for the on-loan central defender.
Eddie Howe’s side are currently seeking to secure European football next season as the Magpies look to finish in the top four and qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
Newcastle are currently in third place in the table while Fulham and Brentford are both outside bidders for a place in the Europa League and Europa Conference League next season.
