West Ham United are interested in signing Manchester City teenager Carlos Borges this summer, as the Hammers plan for the potential departure of club captain Declan Rice.

Despite fighting for Premier League survival after suffering a 5-1 defeat at the London Stadium to Newcastle United on Wednesday night, West Ham are already lining up potential summer transfer targets.

David Moyes risks losing club captain and England international Declan Rice, with Manchester United and Arsenal both circling for the Hammers midfielder who could be set for a major summer switch.

The East London club will likely demand a seismic fee for the 24 year-old, allowing for reinvestment to replace the midfielder and strengthen other areas of the squad.

Manchester City teenager Carlos Borges is one of three names being considered by West Ham, according to journalist Simon Jones.

Borges has had an impressive campaign for the Manchester City EDS as they bid to win the Premier League 2 for a third successive season.

The 19 year-old has scored 16 goals and assisted on eight occasions during 19 PL2 appearances so far this year.

Borges has also featured in the EFL Trophy and UEFA Youth League, where he has been directly involved in a further 15 goals.

The forward is currently contracted with the Blues until 2024 but is yet to feature competitively for Pep Guardiola’s first-team.

The Portuguese youngster was subject to transfer interest in January, with several teams claimed to be interested in signing the teenager on-loan.

Should Manchester City choose to sell the player then he would join a growing list of teenagers who have left the City Football Academy in search of regular first-team football.

Southampton signed Gavin Bazunu, Romeo Lavia, Samuel Edozie and Juan Larios from the Sky Blues last summer.

Jadon Sancho, who signed for Manchester United for £73 million in 2021, left City for Borussia Dortmund in 2017 aged 17.
