Manchester City forward Jack Grealish has hilariously recalled his first appearance for the Club following the FIFA World Cup in Qatar back in December.

The England international left Manchester City in the autumn having been selected by Gareth Southgate to represent his country at the showpiece tournament in Qatar throughout the winter.

Having cruised through the group stage of the competition, and defeated Senegal 3-0 in the Round of 16, England crashed out at the hands of the eventual runners-up France at the quarter-final stage courtesy of a late Olivier Giroud goal.

Following the tournament, Grealish visited New York City during a granted period of leave away from Manchester City, and returned to training the day before a Carabao Cup fourth round tie against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.

Speaking during a recent interview, and having only returned to City training 24 hours prior to the fixture, Grealish explained, “I thought there was no chance I’d be involved (against Liverpool in December).

“Then in the f****** 70th minute, he (Pep Guardiola) tells me, ‘Jack, you’re going on’. I was like ‘f****** hell,’ because I was blowing out of my a***!”

Grealish has been in sensational form for Manchester City since returning from England duties at the FIFA World Cup, and has played an integral role for Pep Guardiola in almost every single game City have competed in since the return.

Speaking on that success in a Sky Blue shirt, Grealish agreed by suggesting that he is possibly in his best run of form since joining the club from Aston Villa in the summer of 2021.

“I feel I am in the best form, especially since I moved to City,” Grealish said. “I think it’s confidence. If you were to ask me one thing (that has helped improve his form), I probably would say confidence.

“At the moment, I just feel a bit like I did when I was at Aston Villa. I feel like one of the main players, and I feel that playing a lot, it is the fittest I have been, especially since I have been at Man City.”

Jack Grealish continued, “That comes down to playing a lot of games on the bounce and playing in big games, just making an impact really.”

The former Aston Villa captain will return to Manchester City action this weekend after another round of international duties with England, as Pep Guardiola’s side return to Premier League competition with a home clash against Liverpool.

City will require nothing less than all three points if they are to maintain their relentless pressure on the current league leaders Arsenal, who held an eight-point lead heading into the international break having played one game more than the reigning top-flight Champions.
