Puma set to secure deal for Manchester City star following Jack Grealish signing
Manchester City are set to see another of their first-team stars link up with their kit sponsors Puma in an endorsement deal, it has been reported.
The latest development comes not too long after Jack Grealish officially announced a new boot deal with Puma, cutting ties with Nike.
The England international has penned a ‘lucrative’ and ‘long-term’ deal with Puma, ending his affiliation to the US brand Nike, in what has been previously reported as potentially being the biggest boot deal ever for a British player.
Speaking about signing a new long-term boot deal with the major sportswear brand, Grealish said: “For me Puma felt like a perfect fit. They have an amazing history in football and have worked with some of the world’s greatest players. I am delighted to join the family and to be a PUMA FUTURE athlete.”
Now, Grealish looks set to be joined by another of his Manchester City teammates.
As per the eagle-eyed Footy Headlines, Manuel Akanji now looks set to follow in the footsteps of Jack Grealish, but officially confirming his status as a Puma athlete at some stage in the coming weeks.
While the Swiss international centre-back had been sponsored by Nike since the very start of his professional career, Akanji has been spotted donning a pair of blue and orange Puma Future boots in recent Manchester City matches.
Akanji has also been seen training in a pink pair of Puma Futures since the beginning of the calendar year, in a further indication that a deal with the German sportswear manufacturers is not too far away.
Elsewhere, Manchester City’s Puma-produced kits for the 2023/24 season have also started to emerge in leaked photographs across social media, with another bold range of strips set to be worn by Pep Guardiola’s players during the upcoming campaign.
