John Brooks will take charge of Manchester City’s FA Cup quarter-final clash against Burnley at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening, the Football Association have announced.

Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany returns to the Etihad Stadium this weekend, with the Belgian’s high-flying Burnley making the short trip to East Manchester for an FA Cup quarter-final clash.

City have won their last 10 straight matches against the Clarets in all competitions, though Burnley look set for an imminent return to the top-flight after an incredible campaign in the EFL Championship.

The FA Cup is one three trophies City are still hopeful of potentially winning this season, with the Premier League and UEFA Champions League also still in the Blues’ sights.

Pep Guardiola’s side comfortably beat Bristol City in the Fifth Round to secure their place in the quarter-finals for a fifth successive season.

City surprisingly exited the Carabao Cup at the quarter-finals stages earlier this season, though the Cityzens will be hopeful of overcoming Kompany’s side and booking their places in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley, this weekend.

Ahead of the cup tie, the FA have announced the Match Officials for the Saturday evening’s clash.

Match Referee

John Brooks has been appointed as the referee for Saturday evening’s match at the Etihad Stadium.

The referee has taken charge of 21 matches so far this season, showing 81 yellow cards and two red cards.

Brooks, who has never refereed a Manchester City fixture prior to this weekend, was the official dramatically removed from VAR duty for the Blues’ win over Arsenal last month.

Assistant Referees

Brooks will be accompanied at the Etihad Stadium by Assistant Referees Darren Cann and Matthew Wilkes.

Video Assistant Referees

VAR will be operation at the Etihad Stadium this weekend, with Andy Madley named as the Video Assistant Referee and Constantine Hatzidakis the Assistant Video Assistant Referee.

Fourth Official

Anthony Taylor has been named as the Fourth Official.

The official will be overseeing conduct within the two dugouts, and the behaviour of managers Pep Guardiola and Vincent Kompany.
